چکیده

We analyze the correlation eeects in two electron atoms and ions which can be probed in double ionization with high energy photons. We consider total cross sections and diierential cross sections for double ionization by pho-toabsorption and Compton scattering and discuss the shake and non{shake mechanisms which may contribute to these observables. The total cross section for photoabsorption (at high energies) is determined by two mechanisms, the shake{oo mechanism and a quasi{equal{energy sharing mechanism, while for Compton scattering it is determined by the shake{oo mechanism. In general the shake{oo mechanism probes diierent distances in the two processes, so that the shake{oo ratios are diierent. Analyzing diierential cross sections , we are able to distinguish the shake from the non{shake contributions in photoabsorption, or the variation of shake{oo result with distance probed in Compton scattering. We discuss the utilization of the double ionization Compton proole (as distinguished from the ordinary Compton proole) for 1 studying the correlation eeects in Helium.

Excitation of autoionizing states of helium-like ions by scattering of high-energy particles

Two-electron excitations of atoms and ions induced by impact of charged particles and photons are fundamental processes, which have been studied since decades. Along with double ionization and ionization accompanied by simultaneous excitation, double excitation is caused by the interelectronic interaction. Accordingly, the cross sections of these processes turn out to be extremely sensitive to ...

Calculation of the total cross section for the ionization of H, He, Ne and Ar atoms by bare ions at the high energy range

In the present work, the total cross-section for the ionization of  H, He, Ne and Ar atoms by +He2+ ، H+ ، Li3 ions has been calculated. In these calculations, a binary encounter approximation in the form of a two-body process between projectile ions and atomic electrons at the high energy range has been implemented. In order to enter the nuclear role of the target atom, the atomic electron vel...

Double ionization of Li-like ions by high-energy photons

The processes of double ionization by absorption or inelastic (Compton) scattering of a photon from atomic systems are of fundamental interest. This is due to the fact that the two-electron emission is exclusively caused by the electron-electron interaction, the accurate treatment of which is still one of the main tasks for different theoretical approaches. As a target, it is usual to use the n...

Single photon double ionization of the helium dimer.

We show that a single photon can ionize the two helium atoms of the helium dimer in a distance up to 10 A. The energy sharing among the electrons, the angular distributions of the ions and electrons, as well as comparison with electron impact data for helium atoms suggest a knockoff type double ionization process. The Coulomb explosion imaging of He2 provides a direct view of the nuclear wave f...

Ionization and dissociation dynamics of vinyl bromide probed by femtosecond extreme ultraviolet transient absorption spectroscopy.

Strong-field induced ionization and dissociation dynamics of vinyl bromide, CH2=CHBr, are probed using femtosecond extreme ultraviolet (XUV) transient absorption spectroscopy. Strong-field ionization is initiated with an intense femtosecond, near infrared (NIR, 775 nm) laser field. Femtosecond XUV pulses covering the photon energy range of 50-72 eV probe the subsequent dynamics by measuring the...
